IndiaNewsNetwork.IN Bureau | 10th Oct 2015: The Thane police have registered a case of cheating against the secretary of controversial self-styled god woman Radhe Maa for allegedly not paying the full tax on a Jaguar car by giving a false address.
Inspector Devidas Gevare said that Sanjeev Man Mohan Gupta, the son of Man Mohan Gupta of M M Mithawalla fame, and a resident of Borivali in Mumbai and secretary of Radhe Maa, bought an imported Jaguar in 2012. Gupta also owns Global Advertisers – an OOH firm in Mumbai.
But he gave a fake address at Kon village in Bhivandi in Thane district, so as to save on the tax paid at the time of registration. Instead of paying a tax of Rs 4,98,278 in Mumbai, Rs 2,27,582 were paid to Thane RTO authorities, as the vehicle tax is less within the gram-panchayat limits.
An offence under section 420 of IPC (cheating) had been registered, he said. No arrest has been made so far.
Radhe Maa is facing a case of dowry harassment in Mumbai.
Meanwhile Radhe Maa’s nemesis Arshi Khan said the police should also register a case of fraud and forgery as the car was paid for by Gupta, but the name of the owner was a fake name. The address too was found to be false.
Speaking to IndiaNewsNetwork.IN, in Mumbai, Arshi Khan said, “The police are going slow on Radhe Maa. The fraud was detected two months ago. Why did it take the police and Thane RTO 2 months to register an FIR. Further, it is a clear case of cheating, fraud and forgery. Fake documents of a non-existent person were used to obtain a waiver in tax. The address was fake. How come the police are not registering a case of fraud and forgery along with cheating,” Arshi Khan asked.
