IndiaNewsNetwork.IN | 14th Sept 2015: In a shocking revelation, film director Manees Singh who is a former senior crime reporter and has worked with several news papers in Mumbai, alleged that the ex Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria who was abruptly transferred by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, had unearthed crucial evidence regarding financial transactions concerning Indrani and Peter Mukherjea.
Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered in a plot hatched by her mother and INX co-founder Indrani, along with her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamwar Rai on April 24, 2012.
In his last briefing to the media before being transferred, Maria said he had written to central agencies and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to scrutinize documents related to the finances of the Mukerjeas. This is because during the interrogation of Peter and Indrani Mukherjea which Maria had personally supervised, certain crucial facts had come to light, Singh said.
Manees Singh has announced a film on the Sheena Bora murder case, where senior actress Supriya Nair plays the role of the murderer Indrani Mukherjea. The film also features firebrand model Arshi Khan and Sonam Sharma in important roles. “There is over Rs 600 crore involved in this case,” quipped Manees Singh, adding, no wonder the government developed cold feet and shunted Maria.
NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik had alleged last week that former top cop Rakesh Maria’s “sudden” transfer was ordered to save people close to BJP leaders involved in a hawala racket. Maria had announced that the financial deals of media honcho Peter Mukerjee would be looked into, which, Malik claimed, has a direct connection with this transfer.
He alleged that Maria had announced that investigation into Peter’s financial deals could reveal the money laundering aspect. Malik also said that the fear that these links could end up having a connection with BJP leaders or those close to some BJP leaders was what led to Maria being removed from the post.
Supporting Malik’s claim, Manees Singh said, “There was tremendous”political pressure” from Centre and to stop the probe into the money laundering angle in INX Media, founded by Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in Sheena Bora murder case, and her husband Peter Mukerjea.
“The transfer (of Maria as Mumbai police commissioner) was done so as to stop investigations into the money laundering angle into INX Media, floated by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, in which foreign companies from Singapore, UK and USA had invested about Rs.500 crore,” Singh said.
